Westmere Primary School

Mexico

Class teacher: Mrs L. Richardson

Teaching assistant: Mrs A. Whisler

Our values in Mexico class: learning, listening to each other, working together, and never giving up.

This term, we will be learning about Heroes and Villains from the past and present day.

Martin Luther, Joan of Arc, Rosa Parks or Amy Johnson? Someone from your family or the local fire fighters? There are many heroes and heroines- but who do you admire most?

How does it feel to do good things and bad? Which feels best and why? Can you do a good deed that changes the world? Perhaps we can be heroes- just for one day?

The children will also have the exciting opportunity to learn to play the ukulele!

Other important information:

PE is on a Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has the full and appropriate (indoor and outdoor) PE kit with them on these days, including our new federation hoodies. Children with long hair should have their hair tied up, and any earrings, watches or other jewellery needs to be removed.

Reading homework will be set on Thursdays and will be due in the following Thursday.  Through the week, times tables and spellings should be practised and reading should take place every night (this can be to an adult or independently). Books will be changed regularly at school and should be brought in, with the reading record, every day.

The children will also have a termly task to complete at home. Your child has a list of suggestions in their homework books. The presentation date will be announced nearer to the end of term.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do come and speak to us. We want your child to be safe and happy, and enjoy school. Keep checking back for updates to our webpage and don’t forget to visit Edi’s blog for the latest news!
