Welcome to Brazil Class 2019-2020
Class Teachers: Mrs Sage-Gray and Mrs Dale.
Our topic this term is ‘Roman Invasion’. We will be learning about what happened when the Romans invaded Britain and who was involved. We will also be learning about different places in Britain in geography and drawing self-portraits in art. At the end of the term we will have a DT week. This term the children will be making Roman shields for their DT project. Please save any large cardboard boxes, as these will come in handy for making our shields.
We love reading in Brazil Class. Please listen to your child read every day and ask them questions about the text. Those children that read three times a week at home, will not only get extra play time on a Friday, but also get a raffle ticket each time they read put into the pot. At the end of the term a raffle ticket will be drawn in the final assembly and that child will get to choose a brand new book to take home and keep. Books and Reading Records need to be brought into school every day, so that they can be checked and changed. Children have an ‘ability’ book based at their level that they should be able to read nearly fluently and a ‘challenge’ book that you can read to them or with them.
Every week we will have two lessons of PE. Please make sure that children are wearing their PE kits (including their blue PE hoodie) on Tuesday and Wednesday. We ask that long hair be tied back and all jewellery, including earrings, must be removed. PE kits include the house coloured t-shirt and dark shorts. Although in the colder months, a jumper and tracksuit bottoms are recommended. Children should also wear trainers.
Homework this year will consist of a weekly piece of comprehension work and maths times tables work. We will send home a topic homework project each large term to link with our current class work. Children that complete their projects will receive Westies and house points. We will also invite parents and carers in at the end of the large term so children can display their fantastic work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to us. We want your child to be safe and happy in school.
