Westmere Primary School

Welcome to Brazil Class 2019-2020

We are an amazing Year 3 class. This year, our wonderful team will be Mrs Sage-Gray and Mrs Dale. We have already started this term fantastically, and we are looking forward to an excellent year!

Every week we will have two lessons of PE.  Please make sure that children are wearing their PE kits (including their blue PE hoodie) on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the first term, the children will also be swimming, so please ensure they are wearing their PE kit on a Monday too for this. We ask that long hair be tied back and all jewellery, including earrings, must be removed. PE kits include the house coloured t-shirt and dark shorts. Although in the colder months, a jumper and tracksuit bottoms are recommended. Children should also wear trainers.

Our topic this term is ‘Heroes and Villains’. We will be learning about heroes from the past and present, as well as where they lived and what they did to become heroes.

We love reading in Brazil Class. Please listen to your child read every day and ask them questions about the text. As our topic is Heroes and Villains, we are looking for reading superheroes. Those children that read three times a week at home, will not only get extra play time on a Friday, but also get to wear a superhero mask when they are reading in school. If they read 5 times at home…they get to wear a cape too! Books and Reading Records need to be brought into school everyday, so that they can be checked and changed.

Homework this year will consist of a weekly piece of Comprehension work and Maths times tables work. We will send home a topic homework project each large term to link with our current class work. Children that complete their projects will receive Westies and house points. We will also invite parents and carers in so children can display their fantastic work.

If you have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to us. We want your child to be safe and happy in school.

We look forward to an excellent year!
